Happy Birthday Michael!!! My big boy is getting sooo big. This 9-year-old is already as tall as his cub scout leader, and is getting very close to being as tall as his mama.
For his birthday, he got his very own guinea pig. He picked him out at the pet shop and promptly named him "Chocolate" ("Choco" for short).
These two were fast friends from the very beginning. Michael even carried him around the house until Mom nixed it due to "sanitation issues."
For Christmas, Nana gave us a membership to the zoo, and we have LOVED it.
This lion water fountain has been part of the zoo forever. It's one of the few "original" that remains even from when I was a little girl.
Swimming with piranhas...safely.
We loved having Aunt Rachel come visit for a few days all the way from Utah! One day while she was here, we went with her and Aunt Sarah to the Forty Acre Woods. They have so many activities, we had a blast!
The zip line was especially fun!
We have also enjoyed a membership to the NASA Space Center.
In March, Matt and I were able to celebrate our 10th Anniversary! Our loving parents watched the kids for us and let us enjoy a few days alone together.... with a baby.
We headed back to the Hill Country where we spent our honeymoon and stayed in a little cabin near the banks of the beautiful Guadalupe River.
We re-visited the Easter Island-Stonehenge Meadow,
climbed trees,
visited the wildflower center,
took long walks,
fell in the river (oops! I wasn't supposed to say that.)
After picking up Ada and Joseph in San Antonio, we spent a day in Austin where we got to see Aunt Alison!
We had a great time having lunch and exploring the grounds at the Oasis. It is sad that I have to admit, in all my time growing up in Austin, it was the first time I had ever been there. What a spectacular view! I definitely want to go back the next time I'm in Austin.
And here is Sadie posing with her new glasses...
